The Steel Beginning
After graduating from high school in 1966, Mr Ho Kiau Seng embarked on his career journey by working as a clerk and salesman in the special steel division within a local steel company. His role requires him to engage with customers and he was soon faced with a major selling obstacle as his clients usually had little understanding of special steel. However, with his innate business sense and positive perspective, Mr Ho saw the great potential of special steel – particularly in the Oil & Gas, Marine, Aerospace and Engineering industries.
Mr Ho spared no time and effort in venturing out on his own with the support of a few friends. By 1971, he had planned ahead and Leong Jin Corporation has been founded. Despite the difficulty of the initial years, Mr Ho was not easily deterred. Instead, he invested much time and effort in learning more in depth about his products, and then imparting that valuable knowledge to enrich his clients and employees.
With Mr Ho’s consistent perseverance and determination, Leong Jin Corporation gained momentum and the brand slowly achieved global brand recognition. As a strong-willed businessman and with great business acumen, Mr Ho has soon caught the eye of a banker that has willingly decided to lend a helping hand. With great thanks to Mr Gerhard Zilch, Leong Jin Corporation was introduced to Krupp – the German conglomerate that is now ThyssenKrupp. The introduction has since blossomed to a symbiotic relationship and partnership for over 40 years.
Today, Leong Jin Corporation has offices situated in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Africa and Australia.
